A new treasury and a sock monkey

Yup, I made it into another treasury! :D Twice in two weeks! Etsy is becoming more exciting every day... The treasury expired yesterday and I totally forgot to post it here, but here´s a screenshot :D it was Lupitita, a teeny tiny Virgen de Guadalupe cellphone thingie...

This week I also decided to go back to craftster... It´s been o
ver a year since I´ve logged in there and I really missed it... I left a few swaps hanging and I have 3 negatives in my feedback and now I´m trying to fix that.  I was advised to send three packages as an angel or as a part of a swap that has been made for people with negatives on their profile...

I found a lot of people requesting stuff that I can send I just have to decide exactly what I´ll send and to whom, but in one  of the lists I found someone requesting a crocheted Sock Monkey Coffee Cup Cozy... after a bit of analysis I figured I could try and knit one, just to see if I could make it work and then make one to send on the swap...

I made it without a pattern and in a couple of hours... I´m so proud! He´s so cute! Judge for yourself.... Let me know what you think...

New thingies in my store!

After much procrastination I finally added new things to my Etsy store!! :D

I´ve been doing it since last weekend, but I wanted to add a resonable amount of new things before actually posting it here, though twitter has been abused by these updates :-p

I still have a few things left and I want to take new photos to the old things... The new ones are so pretty... If you don´t mind me saying so :-p

Building a house

Last week was pretty uneventful and there wasn't much to report, so I just didn't :-p
But then on tuesday, my friend Angel asked me to help him to make a mode of an egyptian house... with polymer clay! :-p

Yup, I was sold the moment he mentioned the clay.

I thought it was going to be fairly easy, since I do play a lot with clay... but it took us a while to get actually started... First the store (yup, the one that I found on my birthday) was closed and we had to wait. Then, my car decided to get sick that day :-p so I had to take it to the shop and when we got home after we had lunch we had to condition the clay.... damn, that was hard... not that I did that, but poor Angel...

He bought 4 packs of clay and he spent hours conditionioning it while I made dessert for dinner (it was father's day here that day), but when I got finished with dessert everything was ready to start working... I don't own a pasta machine or anything to roll the clay and given the fact that we had to roll large amounts of clay I ended up using a huge bottle of heineken as a roller (from my brothers' collection of empty bottles :-p)

All in all, it was lots of fun! :D Angel had a blast mixing different colors, when he found out what happened when he did that he couldn't stop. We had two different mixes and only the floor ended up being of one color... It took a very long time to "finish" but it came out quite close to what he wanted, I know he added stuff to it in his house but the harder work was done when he left... (I hope :-p)

Here are some pics of our day... not of the finished thing, because they were so hard to take, they were useless...

My first treasury!!!

I was really bored last night... when I should have been working in something else :-p and for some reason I decided to check if any of my Etsy things had been featured on a treasury or something like that...

So I went to Craftopolis, which I discovered last week. It's a great tool, you just add your Etsy username and it will show you if you have been featured on a gift list or on a treasury. And amazingly enough, I was in one!!! :D I freaked out for a second, then calmed down a bit... :-p and started looking for a way to create a print screen of the page, because I did want proof of it for posterity :-p

Take a look ( I'm the very first one, Dewdrops :D ) :

It will expire in about a day, so if you want to see it in all its glory you can click on the photo or go here soon. A huge thank you to Zia Zia for adding me!

ETA. Oh, in case you were wondering what I used to make the print screen you can go to Thumbalizr, I found no way to get the part of the screen the monitor wasn't showing just clicking print screen in my keyboard, so I did a bit of research and it worked great... Just in case you ever need it...

Test-knitting a sun that looks like a flower

Soooooo, I was checking the forums on my Ravelry groups and I found an open request for test-knitters and since my plan to conquer the world involves knitting at some point :-p I decided to apply for it... it was for a lovely sun-shaped cushion...

Now, you may be asking why I say that mine looks like a flower, well, mostly because is pink and that doesn't help it look like a sun :-p I honestly loved the whole knitting process it was so much fun, I've never done any test-knitting before and had so much fun...

I still have to email the designer to inform her what I think of it, but the truth is that the pattern was great, easy and quick (bulky yarn is great, and when u lack of it, three strands of worsted weight yarn do the trick... )

I made a mistake on the first "bright side of the sun" but that was my fault, I messed up
somewhere and was never able to get it right... nothing that ruined my pillow though, it was just a random extra stitch that I never actually found whenever I tried to fix it...

When I got to the other side everything was fine, maybe because I decided not to stress about it, and not once I ended with the infamous random extra stitch :D

Also, I killed a couple of cushions to fill the sun/flower cushion, because my mom decided it was better to use that instead of the stuffing I know I have somewhere in my closet :-p

I tell you, it was fun! And it's great to be the first one to knit a pattern :D
I'll post the link of the pattern once its out there...

ETA. The pattern is now available on Ravelry here

Birthday #20-something...

HPIM5581

Yup, I'm twenty-something... :-p My birthday was last thursday, it wasn't as fabulous as I expected, but hey, you can't great birthdays every year, right?

I did enjoy myself on thursday... Big Baleada, friends and finding out that there's a new crafts shop in town (that sells polymer clay!!!! :D ) made it great!!!

Then, saturday, I had a celebration at home with some of my family and friends... We ended up playing Jenga Extreme :D It wasn't what I had in mind but I had fun, and learned a thing or two about friendships :-p

Collecting my earnings :-p

So, yes... I won!!! :D
Come on! Who didn't believe Heath Ledger was going to get the Oscar?! Just Eduardo... :-p

And well, he's still in denial...
I, on the other hand, am really glad he won... and had the best of times watching the Oscars... Mostly because Slumdog Millionaire kicked some ass!

It was great to see them taking almost every award they were nominated for...

Ok, here are some photos of our visit to the Big Baleada... (I'm not in any of them, because I was the photographer :-p )

One of this days I will explain what a baleada is... :-p Yes, they need a whole post!
Now I'm going to bed... my birthday is in about an hour, and i really want to receive it asleep :-p
